Glenville was once home to 9 distinct fire districts: Hoffman's, Alplaus, East Glenville, Scotia, Beukendaal, West Glenville, Thomas Corners, Glenville Hills, and Rectors. This website will explore the history of these fire districts, and the fire departments that serve them that have played an important role in protecting the people and businesses of Glenville.

Fire districts are political subdivisions of towns that provide fire protection and emergency services within the town. They have their own budget and can levy taxes. Most fire districts have their own fire department, as is the case in Glenville.
