Domestic Violence

The Glenville Police Department takes an active interest in the areas of Domestic Violence intervention and prevention. The nature and seriousness of crimes committed between household members are not mitigated because of the relationships or living arrangements of those involved. The Department strives to take a course of action that will enforce the law while also serving to intervene and prevent future incidents of violence.

The Department has an established “pro-arrest” policy when dealing with a Domestic Violence incident. When members respond to an incident, they do not need a cooperative or willing victim in order to make an arrest. The Officers themselves have the ability to prefer criminal charges against an individual if they have reasonable grounds to believe that a crime has been committed against another person.
