Green Infrastructure practices use the natural environment to treat water quality and quantity. Inexpensive and less intrusive than gray system practices, many of the methods meet other obligations such as landscaping with a rain garden, biofilter under a street tree or a bioswale along the property line. Rain Barrels are another inexpensive method of collecting and slowing discharge of rainwater by reusing for irrigation, which would further treat the water quality. Attached below are descriptions of the various practices and how property owners can implement these methods to protect our rivers.
