The Town of Glenville is Hiring a Town Historian

Position offers part-time, flexible hours

New York State’s Arts and Cultural Affairs Law requires every municipality to have an appointed historian to document, preserve, interpret, and share the history of their communities.

The Town historian's role is to assist in researching official town records related to the history of the town and to educate the public about these records.  In this role, the town historian will be responsible to preserve town history through research and proper maintenance of artifacts and historic records.  The historian will be expected to write on town history, create public presentations, create and maintain the town’s history web page and create social media content.  The town historian reports directly to the town supervisor, but must file monthly reports to the town board.

This position is part-time with flexible hours, but the town historian is expected to be available to the public during limited set hours at the town’s history center.

Anyone interested in being considered for this position can send their resume to Supervisor Chris Koetzle at ckoetzle@townofglenville.org by March 31st.
