Supervisor Chris Koetzle Signed an Executive Order Creating Town Senior Assistance Program

Program to Help Seniors Limit Exposure to Virus
Senior Assist

On March 15, 2020 Supervisor Chris Koetzle signed an Executive Order creating the town’s Senior Assistance program. This program is designed to help home bound seniors with their grocery shopping.  Deputy Supervisor Gina Wierzbowski and Director of Human Services Vicki Hillis are coordinating the program.

The Town of Glenville will provide assistance to our senior population in obtaining basic necessities during this state of emergency.  Necessities will include paper goods, hand soap, cleaning supplies and basic food items.

This program will be in place until March 30, 2020 and is open to any senior resident within the Town of Glenville, including the Village of Scotia.  Seniors who are in need of assistance can call 518.374.0734 and leave their name and telephone number.  Town staff will take down the list of items requested, make arrangements to have them obtained and our senior center drivers will drop off the items to our residents.  Payment for items can be made either via check or cash.

Any resident who would like to assist for this program can help in two ways.  The first way to help is through the donation of the following items: paper goods such as toilet paper, facial tissues and paper towels, hand soap, or basic cleaning supplies (disinfecting/antibacterial wipes or sprays).  We would ask that residents reach out to us prior to dropping off any items do to limited storage space.

The second way to assist our older residents is in volunteering time to shop for basic food items. Volunteers will shop and then arrange for pick up with one of our senior center drivers.  The time commitment would be about 2 hours in the morning do that delivers can be made soon after.

Residents looking to help with either initiative should contact Vicki Hillis at 518.374.0734 or via email at vhillis@townofglenville.org.
