Glenville Awarded $300,000 To Help Small Businesses

More good news for small businesses in Glenville and Scotia:

The town announced today that the Housing Trust Fund Corporation (HTFC) and NYS Office of Community Renewal (NYSOCR) awarded Town of Glenville $300,000 in Community Development Block Grant Economic Development program assistance (CDBG). The Town intends to use the microenterprise funds to support local small businesses by awarding grants of between $5,000-$35,000.  This was a program that the town applied for through the state's CFA program.

“Supporting our small businesses has been the cornerstone of our town’s economic development strategy and I am pleased that this grant will help us continue our strong and deep commitment to helping our small businesses succeed,” said Supervisor Chris Koetzle. “These businesses are the town’s heart and soul; they are our job creators and they are the backbone of our local economy. I am thankful for them and am glad to be able to help deliver this grant to support them.”

Eligible use of funds will include physical expansion for pandemic safety, online marketing, and purchase of inventory or equipment. Funds awarded will cover a maximum of 90% of the total project cost (TPC) combined with a 10% owner equity contribution. The grant program will require owners to complete an entrepreneurial Boot Camp training program offered by the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce, the $550 tuition will be paid for by grant funds.

The Town is trying to create jobs, support existing small businesses impacted by the pandemic, and generate more income in small businesses. Applications and guidelines will be available from Glenville’s Local Development Corporation (LDC), which will act as selection committee through a subrecipient agreement with the town. Scotia businesses are included in this grant award.
