Attention Seniors - News on Vaccine Distribution in Schenectady County

As the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise in our area, it is important for everyone to consider getting a corona virus vaccine. A vaccine will help your body fight the corona virus if you are exposed. Currently, two COVID-19 vaccines have been approved by the FDA. These vaccines will be available at no cost to you.

Vaccination is underway for high-risk priority population groups. First responders and nursing home residents are the first to receive vaccinations.  The next anticipated group will be residents who are 75 years of age and older. If you are a Glenville resident who is 75 years of age and older and interested in being vaccinated, please contact the Glenville Senior Center at 518-374-0734 or email glenvilleseniorcitizens@yahoo.com and provide your name, address, phone number, age and email address (if applicable).  We will forward your information to Schenectady County Public Health who will contact you once the vaccine becomes available.

In order to be proactive, we are also interested in compiling a list of 65-74 year old residents who want the vaccine.  At this point, it looks like the next phase will involve vaccinations for those 65 – 74, although it may take some time for the vaccines to become available for this group. If you belong in this category or have a family member or friend that qualifies, please communicate name, address, phone number, age and email either to 518-374-0734 or the email given above. Having these lists will help public health officials to plan and prepare for the people who wish to be vaccinated at the earliest possible date.
