Check Your Spectrum Cable Bill For Incorrect Increase in Franchise Fees

The Increase in the Fee Is A Mistake and Is Not Authorized

Recently, residents have brought to our attention that their Spectrum Cable bill included a higher franchise fee than what was previously allowed to be charged to their account.  When our residents called Spectrum to inquire about this increase in the fee, Spectrum representatives incorrectly told the residents that it was due to the town negotiating a new franchise fee.  This is false.  The town has not negotiated a new agreement or a new increase in the fee so there should be no new charges on your bill for the franchise fee.

Supervisor Koetzle has been in contact with Spectrum and they have indicated that they are now aware of the problem and are working to remedy it.  Supervisor Koetzle was assured that it was a mistake on Spectrum’s side and that it is being addressed and refunds will be issued.  The Supervisor, the town’s legal counsel and employees of Spectrum Cable are in communications and will monitor this issue as it unfolds.  The town encourages all residents to check their bill for an increase in the franchise fee that may have occurred.

We will communicate more information as we get it.
