Glenville Local Development Corp Seeks to Fill Director and Committee Positions

The Board of Directors are looking to attract new applicants for directorships and committee assignments relative to the ongoing development activities in the Town of Glenville. The GLDC was formed by the Town to fund low-cost loans to local Glenville businesses in the Town with loans ranging in size from a few thousand dollars up to $250,000. In 2021 they also established a $175,000 COVID relief fund to allow businesses to continue operating during the pandemic. 15 local businesses took advantage of the no-interest short term loan program. Committee members actively work with the business community to identify needs that can be quickly addressed, often within a few days or weeks.

Recently the GLDC was appointed by the Town to administer a federally funded grant program established by HUD to provide grants up to $35,000 for improvements and/or start-up local businesses. A total of $86,000 has been provided to 5 applicants to date with many more on the way. Members of the GLDC Board of Directors provided voluntary review and application processing of the grant program in concert with Town officials.

The GLDC currently has openings for committee assignments relating to new business development, loan evaluation, bookkeeping, and community outreach. Individuals having general business and/or finance background are encouraged to apply. A brief letter outlining your background can be submitted either to the Glenville Local Development Corporation, PO Box 2894, Glenville, NY 12325 or by e-mail to: glenvilleldc.org to the GLDC Secretary.
