ADMINISTERS AND ENFORCES: Provisions of laws, codes, and ordinances pertaining to the location, design, materials, construction, alteration, repair, equipment, maintenance, use, occupancy, removal, and demolition of structures located within the Town of Glenville.
BUILDING PERMITS: Are required for many building projects, including new construction, additions, structural changes, signs, decks, fences, finished basements, pools, demolition, roofing, siding, and window replacement.
INSURANCE: Contractors must have a current certificate of insurance on file in the Town of Glenville’s name, which shows general liability, worker's compensation and disability, or approved waiver. Homeowners may perform their own work with an affidavit of exemption.
INSPECTION TIMES AND PROCEDURES: All inspections must be scheduled with Building Department personnel at least 24 hours prior to the requested inspection time. Inspections are performed during regular working hours Monday thru Friday. Exact times for inspections cannot be guaranteed. The Building Department understands that not being able to schedule specific times is difficult for people who want to meet the inspector on the job. We will do the best we can to meet these time sensitive inspections.
TYPES OF INSPECTIONS: Footing, foundation / backfill, rough electrical inspection, rough plumbing inspection, rough framing inspection, insulation inspection, final electrical inspection, final plumbing inspection, final building inspection. These and/or other inspections are performed by the building inspector, or electrical inspector as needed to insure code compliance for the specific type of permit.
NOTE: The Building Department does NOT perform electrical inspections. Please contact a NYS certified electrical inspection agency.
