Parks

Town of Glenville parks offer recreation to groups and individuals. Visitors can rent sports fields and pavilions. Families can entertain children on playground equipment and courts from dawn until dusk. The town maintains the following parks and trails. See the County dropdown link for County owned and operated facilities available to residents and visitors.

Andersen Park 

Residents who submit a completed application to the Town Clerk can socialize their canine companions at Andersen Park, located at the corner of Van Buren Rd and Swaggertown Rd. 

Indian Meadows

This 197-acre Town of Glenville Park located on Droms Rd is the Town's largest and most popular day use facility. A number of recreational facilities are located within the park, offering a variety of year-round activities including: cross-country skiing and snowshoe trails, two ice skating rinks, sledding hill, tennis and basketball courts, baseball, softball and soccer fields, park pavilion, playground, and restroom facilities.

Large tracts of open field within the park are managed for wildlife preservation and bird habitat.

Story Trail at Indian Meadows

Experience great children’s stories in a unique way with a walk along the Story Trail at Indian Meadows. The Story Trail is a self-directed learning opportunity which consists of a deconstructed children’s book with pages mounted separately along the .3 mile trail. The trail begins just beyond the park playground. As you stroll down the trail, you're directed to the next page in the story. This is a fun way to promote literacy and exercise for the whole family. The books will be changed periodically.

Legacy Park

The newest edition to Glenville Parks is the 6-acre Legacy Park located on the corner of Route 50 and Dutch Meadows Lane. In collaboration with the Capital Region Veterans Memorial group, the Town is looking to develop the park to eventually include a walking path, monuments honoring all major conflicts, an amphitheater, and a café.

Maalwyck Park

Maalwyck Park is a 59-acre riverfront town park on Rte 5 (Amsterdam Rd) that provides public access to the Mohawk River, fishing at the adjacent Lock 8, and numerous high quality soccer fields.

Sanders Preserve

This 398-acre natural preserve owned by the Town of Glenville offers hiking, cross-country skiing and horseback riding trails. Hunting is also permitted in certain areas of the preserve, by Town permit only. Several streams traverse the preserve, forming numerous ravines and small waterfalls. The Park is located at Sanders Rd and Gowers Rd.

Sanders Preserve has roughly 6 miles of moderately trafficked trails that feature a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trails offer a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use the trails but must be kept on leash.
