Town of Glenville Employment Opportunities

We are currently accepting resumes for the following positions:

  • Commissioner of Public Works - Full-time senior management position with a salary range of $100,000-$120,000 depending on qualifications.  Excellent health, dental, vision, and retirement benefits; and generous paid leave. This position is responsible for the management and oversight of Town water & sewer, parks, and facilities operations. Work is performed under the administrative direction of the Town Board and the direct supervision of the Town Supervisor with wide leeway allowed for exercise of independent professional judgment in making decisions over the work of all subordinate department employees. The successful candidate must possess a current valid license to practice as a Professional Engineer issued by the New York State Education Department and three years of engineering experience in a variety of public works activities, two years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity. Prior municipal experience is preferred. The successful candidate must have been a legal resident of New York State for at least one month prior to beginning employment.

  • Deputy Commissioner of Public Works - This is a full-time management position with a starting salary range of low-to-mid $80k’s with excellent benefits including health, dental, vision, retirement, and generous paid leave. This position works in conjunction with the Commissioner of Public Works in the management and oversight of Town water, sewer, highway, parks, and facilities operations. The successful candidate must have a civil engineering background as outlined in the job specification.  Prior municipal experience is preferred.

  • Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Full-time, 40 hours per week, $31.27 per hour. Excellent benefit package including health, dental, vision, retirement plan, 13 paid holidays, and paid vacation, personal, and sick leave. This is skilled work involving responsibility for efficient and workmanlike performance of repair and maintenance tasks on a variety of heavy automotive equipment requiring a thorough knowledge of the trade.  

  • Clerk to the Town Justice - Full-time, 35 hours per week including some evening court hours, competitive salary, excellent benefits including health, dental, vision, retirement, and generous paid leave. Requirements include an Associate’s degree and 2 years of experience as a paralegal or similar position, or high school diploma and 4 years of experience as a paralegal or similar position. Prior experience in a town or village justice court is preferred.

  • Laborer - Full-time, Highway Department, 40 hours per week, starting rate of $18.19 per hour;opportunities for overtime, excellent benefits including health, dental, vision, and retirement, Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

  • Seasonal Workers -  Temporary seasonal parks and public works laborer positions are available from May to mid-September, 35-40 hours per week, $16.00 per hour, no benefits. This is outdoor work maintaining Town of Glenville properties. Ideal candidates will be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
