Based on responses collected August 30 through September 5, the Small Business Pulse Survey estimates that:

  • 68.8% of U.S. Manufacturing small businesses experienced domestic supplier delays in the last week. The national average for this statistic is 42.4%
  • 18.2% of U.S. Health Care and Social Assistance small businesses required employees to test negative for COVID-19 before physically coming to work in the last week. The national average for this statistic was 9.5%
  • 21.4% of U.S. Educational Services small businesses report a decrease in the total number of hours worked by paid employees in the last week. The national average for this statistic is 14.4%
  • 47.4% of U.S. Accommodation and Food Services small businesses experienced a large negative effect from the coronavirus pandemic. The national average for this statistic was 23.9%

  • 10.1% of U.S. small businesses required employees to have proof of COVID-19 vaccination before physically coming to work in the last week. For responses collected 8/23-8/29, this statistic was 9.3%
  • 28.2% of U.S. small businesses experienced a large increase in prices they pay for goods and services compared to what was normal before March 13, 2020. For responses collected 8/23-8/29, this statistic was 29.4%
