Town of Glenville Forestry Grant - Update

The Town of Glenville was awarded $20,000 through Round 15 of the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Urban Forestry Council grant to conduct an inventory assessing tree conditions in the following public ROW locations:

Off Glenridge Road – St. Anthony Lane area
Off Droms Road – Montclair and Bellaire Rd. area
Off Charlton Road – Rosemere, Rosalyn, Cloverleaf Drive, Clifford, Wheeler area
Off Spring Road – Arcadian, Olde Coach, Homestead area
Off Swaggertown Road – Countryfair Lane; Tieman

Glenville applied for the grant to complete a partial survey conducted under Round 13 of the NYSDEC UFC. Town Supervisor Chris Koetzle has been working with NYSDEC Region 4 Forester Scott Moxham to educate the public and minimize impacts from invasive species such as gypsy moths, wooly adelgid, long-horned beetles and Emerald Ash Borers. Through the proposed Management Plan the town can be proactive in addressing statewide issues impacting trees such as annual infestations and the spread of invasive diseases (https://www.townofglenville.org/home/urgent-alerts/information-gypsy-mot...).

The inventory will commence August 23rd and take approximately two weeks. Upon completion of the tree inventory Davey Resources will draft a Management Plan. The Glenville Town Board appointed the Environmental Conservation Committee and representatives from three town departments as the Tree Board through a local ordinance regulating the maintenance and protection of town trees. If you have any additional questions please contact me at (518) 688-1218 or mcherubino@townofglenville.org.

Residents in the aforementioned locations will receive a letter from the Town regarding the presence of Davey Resources staff for the inventory.
